Pros
  • Unique wide-angle image from a pinhole lens
  • Well-made and cool design
Cons
  • Limited use in low light conditions
  • Produces extremely soft, desaturated images
  • Overpriced

The all-encompassing depth of field of such a tiny aperture means that everything is in focus, and there are no controls on the lens at all.

The Thingify Pinhole Pro S (11mm) is a unique and well-made pinhole lens, offering a wide-angle image from a pinhole lens. The lens is made of aluminum and is precisely cut for the best image quality, providing a cool and sleek look on a black camera. However, the 11mm pinhole size means that shooting indoors or in dark conditions is out of the question unless using a tripod. Even on a sunny day, a high ISO of about 3200 is still needed for handheld shooting, and the images will still come out extremely soft with desaturated colors. The all-encompassing depth of field of such a tiny aperture means that everything is in focus, and there are no controls on the lens at all. The lens is best suited for APS-C cameras, as full-frame cameras do not get full coverage. However, the wide field of view and crazy vignetting of the lens can produce interesting optical effects, along with unique flaring when pointed at the sun or another point of light. Despite the overpriced nature of the lens, it is well-made and easy to use, offering a change from conventional lenses if you're after something different.
