The Canon 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro lens is a stellar performer on both full frame and APS-C cameras. When used on a full-frame camera like the 20 megapixel Canon 6D, it offers a much wider angle field of view, making it more versatile for everyday use. At the maximum aperture of f/2.8, the lens is fairly sharp across the image frame, with minimal chromatic aberration and dark corners. When stopped down to f/4, the chromatic aberration largely disappears, resulting in an extremely sharp and clean image, with extra sharpness in the middle of the frame. The image quality remains consistently good at every aperture, until stopping down to f/22, where there is a slight decrease in sharpness due to diffraction. At f/32, the image is fairly soft but still more usable than on APS-C cameras. Overall, the lens offers as good picture quality on full frame cameras as it does on APS-C, and is even more important for full frame camera users due to its close focusing capabilities and wider angle field of view.
