The iRobot Roomba 980 proved to be a top performer in our tests, particularly excelling in various areas. In pickup tests, it demonstrated remarkable efficiency in cleaning up debris of different types and sizes, especially on hard floors, where the turbo mode was particularly effective for handling large amounts of debris. The larger edge sweeping brush contributed to its ability to clean edges very well. Additionally, it displayed impressive suction power, being able to pick up debris from an eighth-inch crevice, outmatching most upright vacuums. The iRobot Roomba 980 boasts iAdapt 2.0 navigation, utilizing cameras to map out the home, and performed admirably in navigation and obstacle avoidance, making it highly efficient and thorough. Despite being a bit loud, it never got stuck in our tests. The intuitive app allows for remote control, scheduling cleanings, and provides cleaning statistics and maps of cleaned areas. It also offers multiple cleaning modes and a spot mode for targeted cleaning. The only minor drawbacks were its clearance limitations for super thresholds and the relatively small bin size.
