The Zeiss Otus 55mm f/1.4 is an exceptional lens with brilliant build quality and optical performance. It is a little expensive compared to similar sharp lenses with autofocus, but it is still highly recommended for its outstanding sharpness and bokeh quality.

The Zeiss Otus 55mm f/1.4 is an exceptional lens with brilliant build quality and optical performance. The build quality is exceptional with a weighty metallic feel, although the lack of weather sealing is a surprising omission. The manual focus ring turns smoothly and adjusting focus is easy, although it can attract dust. The lens exhibits focus breathing and lacks image stabilization. On a full-frame camera, the lens delivers very sharp images with little corner softness even at wider apertures.

Pros
  • Exceptional build quality
  • Very sharp images
  • Smooth and high-quality bokeh
Cons
  • Expensive compared to similar sharp lenses with autofocus
  • No weather sealing
  • Manual focus only

The bokeh quality is smooth with minimal color fringing, making it suitable for a wide range of photography.
