Pros
  • Very cheap
  • Good macro mode
Cons
  • Poor autofocus
  • Soft image quality
  • Chromatic aberration issues

The macro mode is a redeeming feature, offering a magnification of one to two, but it is quite awkward to use.

This Tamron lens is one of the cheapest telephoto lenses available, but it is outdated and disappointing in many aspects. The build quality is cheap and the zoom ring is jerky to use. The autofocus is noisy and slow, and the lens suffers from soft image quality and strong chromatic aberration. The macro mode is a redeeming feature, offering a magnification of one to two, but it is quite awkward to use. The image quality is soft and has chromatic aberration issues, which only improve when stopping down the aperture to f/8 or f/11. It also struggles with capturing sharp pictures, especially at 200mm and 300mm. The out-of-focus areas also suffer from chromatic aberration, making the bokeh inconsistent and distracting. Overall, this lens is difficult to use and does not deliver the image quality expected from a telephoto lens.
