The Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS is a high-quality lens with excellent sharpness and good build quality. The lens is solid and metallic, although slightly heavy at over two kilograms. However, it is still relatively easy to hand hold. The lens has its own image stabilization system which is very effective at long focal lengths, making it a great choice for wildlife photography. The lens is also compatible with Sony's 1.4x and 2x teleconverters. The autofocus motor is nice and quiet, with smooth zoom and focus rings. The lens produces consistently excellent image quality, with good contrast and sharpness across the frame, especially at its brightest apertures. Despite its dark maximum aperture, the lens still produces soft and out of focus backgrounds, making it a great choice for wildlife photography. The only slight niggles are a slightly wobbly tripod mount and the wish for slightly more steady image stabilization at 600 millimeters.
