Samyang XP 10mm f/3.5 Review

89

The Samyang XP 10mm f/3.5 lens is an excellent ultra-wide lens for the price. It offers great image quality, low coma for astrophotography, and good contrast. It does have some vignetting, barrel distortion, and flaring issues, but these can be corrected without problems. Overall, it is a highly recommended lens.

Overall, though I enjoyed using the Samyang XP 10mm f/3.5 lens. It's the widest lens of its kind on full-frame SLR cameras and it's pretty with good contrast and low coma for astrophotography. It does include some vignetting, barrel distortion, and flaring, but these can be corrected without any problems. At the end of the day, the lens is dramatic, gapeingly wide, and can really astonish, so it's recommended.

Pros
  • Excellent image quality
  • Low coma for astrophotography
  • Good contrast
  • Beautifully crafted
Cons
  • Vignetting and barrel distortion
  • Flaring in bright light
  • No way to use filters

The Samyang XP 10mm f/3.5 lens is beautifully crafted, tough, and metallic, finished in lovely brushed black paint.

The Samyang XP 10mm f/3.5 lens is a beautifully crafted ultra-wide lens that offers excellent image quality, low coma for astrophotography, and good contrast. It is the widest lens of its kind for full-frame SLR cameras and holds the title of being the widest angle non-fisheye lens for any digital SLR camera. The lens is available in Canon EF and Nikon versions, and it can also be adapted onto mirrorless cameras. It comes with a metal lens body and a rubberized focus ring, although it is a manual focus only lens, which is hardly a challenge to use given the wide angle. The lens does not have an aperture ring, and there's no way to use filters with it due to its extreme width. However, it performs well in terms of image quality, sharpness, and contrast, with some softness and fringing visible at wider apertures. It also has some distortion, vignetting, and flaring issues, but these can be corrected without any problems. Overall, the Samyang XP 10mm f/3.5 lens is a recommended option for photographers in need of an ultra-wide angle lens with great performance and quality.

At f/8, the lens presents impressive image quality in the corners, particularly satisfying for such an extreme wide angle.
