With the 2x teleconverter, it can provide a focal length of 1600mm, making it suitable for capturing extremely distant subjects. However, the lens comes with some significant disadvantages. It has a very narrow aperture of f/8, which means it doesn't let in much light, requiring either a tripod or high ISO levels to capture handheld photos. Additionally, it is a manual focus lens only, and the image quality is generally soft with poor contrast levels, especially at close-up focal lengths. The donut-shaped out-of-focus highlights, characteristic of mirror lenses, are also considered an undesirable feature for many photographers.
