The Nikon Z MC 50mm f/2.8 is a fantastic lens for its price and offers excellent sharpness and color quality, with virtually no image quality issues. Despite its lack of weather sealing and image stabilization, the lens performs admirably, making it a superb choice for macro and general-purpose photography. The build quality of the lens is solid, though the focus system is not the quickest. It is made of plastic and feels a bit heavy, although it is still manageable. The lens features a focus limiter and a rubberized focus ring that turns smoothly but works very slowly, which may not be ideal for some photographers. The lens also suffers from some focus breathing when zooming in, but this is a common characteristic of macro lenses. The lens does not have image stabilization, although most new cameras do have it built in. However, the overall build quality is satisfactory and feels solid enough.
